We ate at restaurant called Ginger, and I was struck by the huge, almost campy, but definitely quirky, chandelier/lamp hanging from the ceiling. Couldn’t resist a picture.

I wanted to take this picture to show what a significance night markets must be, to rate top billing on a street sign!

I couldn’t help but wonder at their reverence for the elephant – to the point that these “elephant heads” line major thoroughfares in Chiang Mai.

Along the main highway, as we were headed towards the CareCorner Orphanage.

One of the oldest defences for a city was to have a moat built around it, and a wall just beyond that. This is part of the wall that remains around the moat in the heart of the City.
A craft shop that we encountered on the way to the orphanage. The rest of our party suddenly got it into their heads that I needed a silk umbrella on the occasion of my birthday, so we just went in there fore a lark. And came out quite soon after that – there really wasn’t much to see.
Another temple that we encountered along our travels (as we were driving along lah). This one was particularly beautiful but I couldn’t possibly ask them to stop as we were driving past.
The padi field outside CareCorner Orphanage in Amphur Sanpatong, Chiang Mai. In the end, mom signed up to support two kids – one of whom shares the same birthday as my bro Ian. Quite freaky.
